After all this work, the light at the end of the tunnel is within grasp! All of the art work is done (DVD case and on-disc design, movie poster & postcards), the DVD menus, navigation and program have all been created and tested and the disc has been mastered. Everything is in the hands of the replicator and printer now, so time to just sit back and wait. The finished product is due by the end of November, just in time for the Holiday Gift Season (Hint, Hint).

But this is also a time to reflect on the many hours of hard work that has gone into this project…and the passion that drove it. Who would have thought that just a few years ago, by chance, this filmmaker would happen across a video on YouTube of Alan Kahn and in amazement, realize that I had to try it, and get hooked like everyone else? Then finding the www.Speedbagforum.com and all the fellow baggers who share the passion. Then researching the history only to find that the speed bag was invented right in your own backyard! Finding a vintage platform from the early 1900’s that was still functional and with a little work is good for another 100 years…I mean really… how did I get here? Chance? Luck? Fate? I may never know, but I did know that this film HAD to be made. There had to be something documenting the history of the speed bag and all the people who enjoy it.

1877 was just one year after the Battle of Little Bighorn…the electric lightbulb wouldn’t be invented for another 2 years and Mike Donovan was perfecting the rubber punching ball. Skip forward to 136 years later and here we are still hitting the bag!

I can’t wait to have the final product in-hand…and in history.
